his first experience with the new bundle of pokemon came in the form a small, familiar looking pokemon. hautiness guides it's feet, and it leaps into his path, canines bared.

greyson takes a step back, motivated by the small dosing of adrenaline that seeps from the jump scare. then, like the push and pull of the tide, confidence worms its way through with domineering force.

from the wash of pale light, a tyranitar stands, sizing up it's much smaller previous form. it releases a deafening bellow of challenge, and with mild amusement, and even milder alarm, he watches the larvitar fall unconcious right before his eyes.

the tossing of a safari ball later, he moves on.

the next pokemon he comes across, he handles with a bit more finesse. returning the titan to his ball, he opts to treat the small bulbasaur with kindness.

from the bright like of a pokeball, a whimsicott emerges. her mane of cotton bounches with each step, and she turns large eyes onto the sauropod. it lumbers over to stand nearby, both curious of one another's intentions. but the tension breaks quickly, and the two find themselves running and playing in the tall-grass.

"well, isn't that nice."

in the midst of playing, the two pokemon both look up at the approach of a new one. the swamp colored bronzor floats by, a kitchen plate sized creature of curiosity.

but eventually, the machinations of the two strange pokemon bored him, and he continues his journey further into the warden's safari.

with nearly half of his assigned pokeballs carrying new occupants, greyson chews the inside of his cheek, mind wandering to idle, less important thoughts.

his mindless drifting is halted when a small pokemon scuttles along his path. its small eyes stare up at him, and down it's long nose. the black leather pad twitched as it took greyson's scent in.

no, not his scent, but the poffin he was actively rolling between the fingers in his pocket. a silent conversation broke between the two, shared by their stares alone.

in the end, he feeds the snack to the mole, and continues his walk onwards. but, no matter how he tries, he can't shake his new companion.

with dusk soon approaching, his adventure out into the safari would be meeting it's end. haul aside, the enjoyment that nature brings was more than enough to make him glad to have gotten out of bed today.

the final leg of his journey isn't gone on alone, however. a pumpkaboo had shadow snuck into his shadow sometime in the past hour, keeping him company on the last hour or so of his walk.

"alright, time to put up or shut up. what'll be?"

it chooses the poffin.

not that it matters anyway, because soon the pokemon is encapsulated by crimson light, and greyson is done for the day.
